Dr RGST (Ernest R. Rugenstein, PhD Cultural History)
Dr. Rugenstein received his Ph.D. in Cultural History from Union Institute & University. He currently teachers honor courses in history and sociology at a local community college and is actively investigating an archaeological site in the Adirondacks. His specialties include Historical Research, Native American History and Archaeology/Cultural Resource Management. He has created a number of college level courses and has published several books. One of his books, 'Akwesasne, Divided by more than the St. Lawrence River' is currently being used as a textbook on campuses. He has presented at various conferences, which include the American Historical Association, the Canadian History of Education Association, and the Annual Algonquian People’s Conference. Additionally, he has reviewed a number of textbooks and articles.
His doctoral dissertation was entitled "Clash of Cultures: Uprising at Akwesasne" and centered on the violence at a reservation near Massena, NY from 1989 to 1990. He has an M.A. in European History and an M.A. in Religion/Ministry with a B.A. in History.
