First Task, Headings and subheadings
editYour first task is a simple one. However, I would like to see just how "wiki-literate" you are. What you need to do is put each uppercase letter as a heading, with each accented character as a subheading, and each lowercase letter as text within each heading/subheading. As an optional parameter, place an internal link to a page that starts with that letter. Any page will do.
Again, I know this is simple, but I need to know what you do and don't know.
Passed. Very well done. You are my first adoptee to place the interwiki links as well. I will post the next task and then log off. Note: Your demonstration of knowledge of interwiki links has prompted me to skip to the third task, as the second deals only with inter wiki links.
Third Task, Images
editI want you to add four images, each with a caption, to this page. I want one plain image, one with a 3 pixel frame, one as a thumbnail, and one shrunk to 20 pixels. Use only free images, so we don't have admins and copyvio cops on our assess.
Everyone is having trouble with the 3px frame, and indeed, I can't seem to figure it out either. My best guess is that you have to specify a size for the pic as well as the frame.
Policies
editLook up the policies relevant to:
Point of view
Conflict of Interest
Original Research
And Civility
Provide both an internal link, and an external link to each page so I know you read, at least most of, it.(That sentence looks weird, but is grammatically correct...Odd.)

Application of Knowledge
editAt the article for George Bush you see an edit summary like this "Removed Slanderous Information-L.Bush" and the userpage shows that this person claims to be Laura Bush, George Bush's husband. The edits themselves took out the enitre section on "Bushisms" (funny words Bush uses, like nucular) and added two sections, one referenced to a book Laura wrote herself, and the other unreferenced. The unreferenced section details how Bush is a very intteligent man, and is a good husband and father. The language of the section suggests that the editor thinks Bush is a good person. When asked about this, User L.Bush replied "How dare you slander my husband! You computer geeks don't know anything about him!".
What you do? What, if anything would you revert? Are there any reportable offenses?
Well the person is violating Neutral Point of View and Civility. Also I would ask the person either delete the unreferenced section or change the biased view and add references. Also I would ask a neutral person to help in it. If the person does not change the unreferenced section and does not delete it I will delete the section and if the person continues to act uncivil or biased I will ask an adminstrator to help in the problem and if necessary to block the user. That one was difficult!Monkeyfox (talk) 00:26, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
Excellent response. You're doing very well Monkeyfox.
Referenceing
editProvide inline citations for this statement, and correct any information that can't be properly sourced. Also provide a References section below the statement. It should be fairly easy to find relevant info on google.
"The cheetah can run at speeds up to 70mph [1], and will devour their prey quickly and leave the skin, bones, and entrails of their prey. [2]
Um... I saw that cheetahs run to speeds up to 70mph and not 60mphMonkeyfox (talk) 01:03, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
- So fix it and provide citataions.:)Drew SmithWhat I've done 01:06, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
Oh didn't notice the correct any information:).
- What about "the devour their prey whole?"Drew SmithWhat I've done 01:17, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah was gonna do that then got distracted.
- Do you know how to post a references section?
- No.

<--- Add a subheading titled references, sources, or citations. It doesnt really matter. Then add this <references/>.
Like this?
Like this. I'll call it a pass. I'll leave this up so you can look at it while I figure out the next task.
Ok and yeah I'll need to look at it a bit more...
Passed.

editNext Task
editI think you are ready to creat your first article. Keep in mind all the relevant policies, especially notability and original research. You can choose any topic you want. I would suggest a plant or animal, however, as these automatically meet the notability requirements because they exist. For this task, it doesnt have to be anything fancy, you just have to create it.
Ok how do I create a sub section in my user page so I can start it there?
You don't actually have to start it in a subpage, however if you want to just click User:Monkeyfox/article. Creating a subpage is as simple as creating a link to the desired title, following it, and creating it.
Oh thanks!
Also unless it's part of the test can you help me find a plant/animal that has enough information about it and doesn't have an article about it yet?
No, its not part of the test. Finding a suitable topic is a pain in the ass. I'll see what I can do. What types of animals/plants would you be interested in writing in? A good way to find a topic is to check the wikiproject that it would fall under. They often have an "articles for creation" section.
- How about Australian shark catfish, or ''Arius graeffei''?
- Ok I'm gonna see how much information I can find.
- I couldn't find much information so I did Ictalurus catus instead. I tried to make it like your article Hippocampus kudaMonkeyfox (talk) 20:45, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
Vandalism and Welcoming
editThere are many tools wikipedians use to patroll vandalism, the most common of which is the Special:Newpages link. There are also some tools to be found that are much more powerful than the "Newpages". I found the one I currently use from User:Lupin. Your task is to find three pages relevant to vandalism, fighting vandalism, or the consequences of vandalism.
Wikipedia:Vandalism Wikipedia:Most vandalized pages Wikipedia:Long term abuse User talk:Duckman2 User talk:Parkbench9 User talk:Sadclown 392 User talk:Shoshiklein
When welcoming a new user many templates can be used. The most common is {{welcome}}. You can also use mine at User:Drew R. Smith/Welcome. Your task is to find and welcome three new users, and provide links to prove it.
Excellent, you are really excelling at this. You are going to make a fine editor.
B-Class
editYou know most of the things needed to get by in wikipedia now. For your last task before you officially graduate, I would like you to work on getting your article up to a B-class. The criteria for a B-class fish can be found at Wikipedia:Wikiproject Fish. When you think your article qualifies let me know and I'll take a look. You may also want to consider joining a wikiproject. As you may already know, I contribute at WP:EAR. Occasionally we get a particularly tough case, or a case perfect for teaching. I'm going to set up a page where my adoptees can attemt to tackle these problems, without having to worry about the repercussions of giving bad advice. If you choose to participate in this, your main focus should still be on getting your article to a B-class.Drew SmithWhat I've done 00:33, 21 May 2009 (UTC) Congratulations! You have now passed my adoption program! Keep up the great work.Drew Smith What I've done 00:50, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
