Michelle Lee (athlete)
editMichelle Lee (nee Harris, born 11 September 1972) is a retired British long-distance runner, duathlete and triathlete. She represented Great Britain at the Stockholm Marathon in 2005, finishing 4th.
Lee, one of 4 siblings and mother of two, grew up in Windsor, and ran her first marathon at London, aged 18, finishing in 3:51:47 but didn’t take up running until 1999, completing the Robin Hood Half Marathon in a time of 1:23:47. She joined St Albans Striders in 2001, and then Milton Keynes Athletics Club in 2002. From 2000, Michelle improved her times from 3:19:00 to finishing 13th overall in 2003. In 2004, she ran a time of 1:53:04 for 20 miles at the Oakley 20 in Hampshire, which at the time was the UK All Time 5th fastest time for a woman. In the same year, she finished the 2004 London Marathon in 14th Place in a time of 2:35:51 behind Tracey Morris, Birhan Dagne and Joanna Lodge
After competing for Great Britain in 2005, Michelle moved from competing in running to representing Great Britain in Duathlon between 2006 and 2008. Her highest accolade was Silver Medal in the Elite Long Course Duathlon Championships in Richmond Virginia, United States behind Catriona Morrison. In 2008, Michelle was crowned European Powerman Duathlon Champion.
In Triathlon, Michelle also competed at elite level, finishing 5th Elite woman in Swiss Half Ironman (2007) in her Half-Ironman debut, and went on achieve 4th overall woman at the Monaco Half Ironman and 3rd woman in UK Half Ironman in the same year. In October 2007, she finished 10th in the Elite Half Ironman World Championship in Clearwater, Florida.
In 2016, Michelle returned to competing and in 2016, won Masters National Road Race (aged 40-44), 2nd overall to Chanel Mason, and Masters National Criterium Championships.
In 2017, Michelle continued in Cycling Time Trials, finishing The National 12 Hour with a total mileage of 261 miles as a member of Bicester Millennium Cycle Club (BMCC). In 2019, she recorded a time of 1:48:23 for 100 miles, representing Royal Dean Forest Cycle Club (RDFCC).
