The Great Patriotic War broke out in 1941. On June, 22 the German troops invaded into the territory of the USSR. Byelorussia was the first country in the USSR to suffer greatly during the first days of the war. The war lasted 1418 days and nights. More than 26 million soviet people gave their lives defending their native country. On May, 8 German Instrument of Surrender was signed. It was the end of the Great Patriotic War. Since 1945 people of the Soviet Union and later Russia have celebrated the Victory over fascism. The head of the state makes his speech. The parade, concerts, meetings and the salute are the main events devoted to the Great Victory. In 2015 a mighty action (Immortal Regiment) was started in Russia. Every year millions of people take part in this action to honor their relatives who died for freedom of their country. The Great Patriotic War will never be forgotten. A lot of impressive monuments such as Rzhev monument to a Soviet [[1]], the main church of Armed Forces of Russia not far from Moscow[[2]], the monument “The Motherland Calls” in Volgograd[[3]] do not leave anybody indifferent. This year the monument in Volgograd has been restored. Millions of people could see the opening ceremony of the huge monument in Rzhev and the church in Tver Oblast on TV. 2020 is the year when all Russian people celebrate the 75 Anniversary of the Great Victory. The parade was held on June, 24 instead of May, 9 because of pandemia. Though people had to stay at home on this Great Day, they could feel the atmosphere of the holiday. A lot of war films were shown on TV, war songs could be heard everywhere. 2020 has been declared the year of Honor and Glory[[4]]. Fifty new monuments have been erected in different parts of Russia. All generations give their respect to all people who lived, worked and fought for the Victory.
