Geoff Emberling is an archaeologist and museum curator specializing in the ancient cultures of northeast Africa and the Middle East. He currently directs an archaeological project at Jebel Barkal in northern Sudan, one of the capital cities of ancient Kush (sometimes called Nubia) and previously directed archaeological projects in the Merowe Dam salvage project in northern Sudan and at Tell Brak, an ancient Mesopotamian city in northeastern Syria. He is currently Associate Research Scientist in the Kelsey Museum of Archaeology at the University of Michigan.
