Elections to the National Executive Committee of the Labour Party took place between the 4th and 31st of August 2020. Roles to be elected included all Div. II CLP positions, representatives for youth, BAME and Welsh members in adition to a local government representative elected by Labour councillors on principle authorities.

Voting System

These NEC elections where the first be held using STV for the CLP division. Previously, members had been elected via regular plurality voting which strengthened the role of slates on the committee.

Elections to the equalities roles where conducted via an electoral college, with a trade union block vote accounting for 50% of the result and a one member one vote ballot of eligible members accounting for the other 50%.

The Local Government representatives where elected via plurality voting and only Labour councillors on principle authorities could participate in this.
