Alternative South Africa -- a construct prevelent during the 80s, see the Anti-apartheid movement, and New South Africa.
As most constructs go, Alternative South Africa seems to have surfaced as a result of a need to define opposition to an intolerable situation, namely the existance of a racially-baised state, whose modus operandi, was the subjugation and surbordination of entire categories of individual. Alongside Jews, homosexuals and non-europeans, artists, musicians and poets were targetted by a regime, which failed to implement the rule of law, and which stood as a pariah amongst nations.
