Michael Joseph Sugrue is an American historian and professor of philosophy. He currently holds the position of professor at Ave Maria University.[1]

Education

Sugrue earned his bachelor's degree in history from the University of Chicago and his master's degree and Ph.D. in philosophy from Columbia University.[2]

Career

Before joining Ave Maria University, Sugrue had a diverse teaching experience. He served as a faculty member at several prestigious institutions including Princeton University, the City College of New York, Columbia University, Manhattan College, New York University, Hampton University, and Touro College. Additionally, he was the Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow at Johns Hopkins University from 1992 to 1994.[3][2]

Sugrue received various awards and fellowships. These include the Chamberlain Fellowship, the President's Fellowship, the John Jay Fellowship, and the Meyer Padva Prize.[4]

Death

Sugrue died on January 17, 2024, from cancer.[5]
