About me

edit

I'm a student at Everett Community College who likes to workout and play videogames with my friends. I go to Planet Fitness with my girlfriend almost every day, and we try to work the main muscle groups - biceps, triceps, back, shoulder, legs and core - twice a week, with a single rest day each Sunday. I play mostly FPS, such as: Tom Clancy's: Rainbow Six Siege, Apex Legends, Fortnite, Warzone and occasionally Minecraft. I normally play these games with a few of my friends, but if they are unable to play, I like to sit in my bed and watch my favorite YouTuber, MMG.

My Wikipedia Activities

edit

As someone who uses Wikipedia a lot to get a basic understanding of certain things, I plan on making slight changes to things that I feel confident in myself about, but will keep articles relatively the same. If I do end up making changes, it would most likely be me removing things I know are no longer true or relevant in present time. I don't plan on creating any articles, as I don't think there's anything I could think of that isn't already it's own article.

Article evaluation

edit

Avatar: The Last Airbender is definitely my favorite show of all time, having watched it through either 5 to 6 times, and it has a very well rounded Wikipedia article. Although the show's article is great, I suspected that if I took a deeper look at a specific character, there might be mistakes within his or her article, to which I would be correct. After reading through the article and using my own knowledge against it, I found 3 things that could've been done better: an error within the overview, the lack of information about his relationship with his nephew, Zuko, and the missing information about his visit to the Spirit World.

Overview error

edit

In the article, it’s mentioned that AFTER the war ends, that Iroh is offered the position of Fire Lord, to which he declined and said it should be Zuko. This isn’t entirely true because when you look for the last episode of the series, Zuko and Iroh are having a conversation BEFORE Aang starts his battle with the Fire Lord, where Zuko asks what Iroh will do once the war is over, and if he will take his rightful place on the throne, where Iroh tells him that it must be a new face, someone with unquestionable honor; Zuko himself.

Relationship with Zuko

edit

Throughout the series, there isn't a moment where Iroh shows anything but love and support for Zuko. It's one of his key defining personality feats that makes him such a great character. The article seems to just brush over the fact that Iroh as a character was one of the main reasons that his nephew, Zuko, had such a great redemption arc, yet it's only mentioned how his personality is shown best in his relationship with Zuko. Outside of the singular sentence, there's nothing else listed to actually show how his personality is shown with their relationship, it's only told.

Spirit World

edit

As you get into the series sequel, The Legend of Korra, you see that Iroh is actually in the spirit world, but it's not the first time it's mentioned that he has a connection to the Spirit World. During the last episode of the 1st book (season), Commander Zhao mentions how he's heard stories about Iroh's visits into the spirit world, along with the middle of the season it's hinted that he has some spiritual connection to the spirit world. Other than the swift mention about him being in the Spirit World in The Legend of Korra, there's nothing else mentioned of this.

Conclusion

edit

Although I've found things that could definitely use some critique, the article as a whole is very well written and has a copious amount of references for a single character. You get a very good understanding of who he is as a character and his key moments within each season, I just wish that there would be more about his relationship with his nephew, as that's one of the main reasons he is even in the show to begin with.
