About Me

edit

Thank you for taking the time to visit my user page. I am a college student at the community college closest to me. I have decided to study business in order to gain some skills that are applicable in almost every field. I work as a manager at a Mcdonald's in a nearby city as well. Besides work, I scrapbook and shop. I do a majority of my shopping online. I try to buy from small businesses or secondhand shops such as Value Village, Depop, and Etsy. The secondhand market has grown by 24% and is expected to grow by 127% by 2026.[1] Buying or selling secondhand is a great way to be more sustainable while also helping the community.

Wikipedia Interests

edit

I am currently only interested in starting out with small edits and corrections. In the future, I would like to go into the Wikipedia pages of the shows, and movies I like the most, and correct any mistakes whether that be related to the show or some small punctuation errors.

Article Evaluation

edit

I love the show Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Even more, I love the character Spike played by James Marsters. He is an evil wild vampire who looks out for himself but grows to be more caring and loyal. I visited the Spike article on Wikipedia and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: missing citations, missing information, and the age of the article.

Citations

edit

There are plenty of citations on the page, sixty-eight of them to be exact. Even then, that is still not enough. There are a couple pieces of information missing citations from multiple sections. In the very first section of his page, it speaks about his background, there is not one single citation for where they got the information. There are multiple flash back episodes in the show mentioning his backstory, it would be quite easy to cite multiple episodes.

Missing Information

edit

There is a very small section, about three sentences long, about a spin-off movie about the character. The section could be expanded to a general overview of any potential tv comebacks for the character. In multiple interviews, James Marsters has said he is willing to come back for Joss Whedon.[2][3] I think that information like that would lengthen the section and make it more notable. There is also a piece small clarifying information that is missing in the appearance section, it is giving the meaning behind Spike's appearance change but does not specify if Spike is saying the meaning behind the change or if the actor himself, is saying the meaning of the change.

Up to Date Information

edit

The last edit was October 2nd, 2022. Although, the edit was very recent, some of the information is not up to date. There have been many articles since 2017 written about Spike that could be added to reception. Such as this Collider article, and this Junkee article. Reception is one of the sections that, theoretically, could keep growing as people are writing articles about Buffy characters and such.

Conclusion

edit

Overall, the article is decent. If you are trying to do a deep dive of the character, it may be missing sources and information. Some of the sections are not up to date, such as the reception area. If you are trying to get a general overview of the character, it may be fine skimming.
