I committed in my RfA to be open to recall, which essentially means that I'll resign my adminship if a certain number of users ask me to do so. I intend to follow User:Worm That Turned/Recall process, reprinted below (see that page's history for attribution):
This recall process has three stages, discussion, petition and resignation. I will not consider multiple recall requests regarding the same incident.
Discussion
Any issue must be discussed with me either on my talk page or by email prior to petition. If you are unsatisfied with the result of the discussion, proceed to the next stage. A discussion should include at least one comment from me or a 24-hour period where I have not responded.
Petition
Any editor may request recall by starting a numbered petition on my talk page. Editors may request recall for any reason, but are expected to do so civilly and in good faith. To trigger a resignation, a recall petition must be signed by at least 10 editors each having over 500 edits and over one month of tenure.
I also allow for a counter-petition that I should not resign. A simple majority is required between the petition and counter-petition, to confirm the resignation.
Resignation
To allow time for cooling off and to facilitate discussion and compromise, petitions should remain open for seven days. Petitioners may strike out their signatures at any time. If at the end of the petition period the required threshold is met, then I will resign; otherwise, the recall fails. I reserve the right to re-run at RfA at any time.
I won't modify this process without first giving three weeks' advance notice on this page. Extraordinary Writ (talk) 09:10, 16 December 2022 (UTC)
As I said in Q5 of my RfA, I think optional recall is a poor substitute for a standardized community-based desysop procedure
, and only until that happens
would I use the process described above. Now it has happened: WP:RECALL is policy. Keeping up a separate parallel process is unnecessary and makes recall into a strategy game, so moving forward I intend to operate only under the system that the community has agreed to. I will honor any petitions under the old process initiated before 23:59, 30 November 2024 (UTC). If the community-based recall procedure is ever repealed, I will reïnstate either the above system or something similar to it. Extraordinary Writ (talk) 22:01, 26 October 2024 (UTC)
