Hello. I am Eyer. I am a copy-editing Wikipedia gnome. I enjoy reducing capitalized words to comply with Wikipedia style. I also edit articles on the following topics:
- Current events
- Florida
- Government and government officials
- Schools
In my free time, I enjoying curbing vandalism on Wikipedia, especially inappropriate edits to articles about living people.
Because Wikipedia avoids unnecessary capitalization, you might see me editing articles to remove capital letters. Sometimes I can be overzealous and remove a few too many. Feel free to re-capitalize some if I over did it or to discuss on a Talk page. I am open to feedback.
As I understand the MOS:JOBTITLES guide, the following constructions are correct:
- "As president, Nixon went to China." (referring to the office of president)
- "As the president, Nixon went to China." (referring to the office of president)
- "Nixon was President of the United States." (referring to the title "President of the United States")
- "Nixon was the president." (referring to the office of president)
- "Nixon was U.S. president." (referring to the office of president)
- "Before Nixon was president, he was called Senator Nixon." (referring to the office of president and the title "Senator")
- "Nixon was the United States senator from California." (referring to the office of senator)
- "Nixon was promoted to lieutenant in the war." (referring to the rank of lieutenant)
- "In World War II, Lieutenant Nixon never thought he would become president of the United States." (referring to the title of "Lieutenant" and the office of president)
- "California senator Nixon won the seat of Democratic senator Sheridan Downey.
- "President of the United States Nixon wielded a pen."; "Republican president of the United States Nixon wielded a pen."
- "President Nixon wielded a pen."; "U.S. president Nixon wielded a pen."; "Republican president Nixon wielded a pen."
- "The pen was used by President Nixon."; "The pen was used by U.S. president Nixon."; "The pen was used by Republican president Nixon."
- "The pen was used by the president."; "The pen was used by the U.S. president."; "The pen was used by a Republican president."
- "The pen was used by the president of the United States."; "The pen was used by a Republican president of the United States."
