There are some types of sockpuppet in Wikipedia.
- Good-faith sockpuppets
These users fall into Wikipedia policy about legitimate usage of sockpuppets/alternate accounts. For example, prominent users might create a new account to experience how the community functions for new users.
- Bad-faith sockpuppets
These users fall into Wikipedia policy about abused sockpuppets. Bad-faith sockpuppets are used for vandalism, votestacking, and others.
- Votepuppets
Sockpuppets used for votestacking (usually at WP:AfD and WP:RfA)
- Vandalpuppets
Sockpuppets used for vandalism.
