A example of ulzzang, tooken by the famous ulzzang Han Areum "Song'i" Ulzzang(Korean: 얼짱, listen), also spelled as eoljjang or uljjang(Korean pronunciation: [ʌl.tɕ͈äŋ])is a internet trend originating from South Korea. It simply consists of putting on makeup, then taking a selfie. Sometimes Photoshop may be used to edit the image. The trend itself is practiced by both sexes, mostly teenagers and young adults.

Ulzzang is a shorten word of eolguljjang(얼굴짱), roughly "the face is [which is] the best". The term itself has been coined in the 2000s on the internet, and has been used to refer to good-looking people's pictures.

The trend itself originated in the late 1990s, with internet users took selfies of themselves with the webcam.

The popularity and influence of hallyu throughout Asia has led to ulzzang becoming a trend in countries such as Vietnam, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and certain parts of South Asia.[1][2]
