Municipalities where Dilma Rousseff was the most voted. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
Incumbent President Dilma Rousseff of the Workers' Party (PT), Brazil's first female president, is running for re-election. She is challenged by 11 other candidates, of whom Minas Gerais Senator Aécio Neves from the Brazilian Social Democracy Party (PSDB) and Marina Silva from the Brazilian Socialist Party (PSB) are her main rivals. If none of the candidates obtains over 50% of the valid votes on 5 October, a second round will be held on 26 October.
The original PSB candidate was Eduardo Campos. However, he died in a plane crash in Santos on 13 August 2014,[1] after which the party chose Silva, who had been his running mate, to replace him as the party's presidential candidate.[2]
