The City Alert Texting System (C.A.T.S.) is a British system for alerting the public in case of emergency or a major incident. C.A.T.S. sends text messages directly to (registered) people's mobile phones in the locality affected by the emergency or incident. At the moment, only a very few localities are covered.

C.A.T.S. was set up by Eazytext.com, a private company.

Usage

edit

People have to register with C.A.T.S. by sending it a text message containing the postcode. There is a small charge to register, and the registration is valid for one year.
