So let's begin with who I am. I am no longer a new editor here on Wikipedia. Much of my edits have come from countering vandals and participating on talk pages. During my time patrolling changes and debating on talk pages I have learned a great deal about the policies of Wikipedia. When it comes to my actual editing work I tend to focus on law, politics, and Finland. But as I stated, those are not the things I do most. I feel my skills are best put to use in discussions since I am good at presenting arguments and enjoy interpreting rules.
As a person I am a proud Finnish furry with a passion for politics and law. I like to talk about my country and work on those parts of Wikipedia. I also sometimes edit the Finnish Wikipedia. I can be geeky about churches, ships, history, biology, and many other topics. I am an academic mind. I really really like cats.
I do not look favourably on purpose driven reading of of Wikipedia policy, guidelines, and best practises unless necessary to avoid concrete substancial harm. I treat policy as a constitution, guidelines as law, MOS as precedent, project guidelines as persuasive precedent, and non RfC talk page consensus, notwithstanding the immediate case where it is binding, as well as essays as advice.
When I look at the aforementioned types of "rules" I like to think like a judge. I will interpret everything in the manner most favourable to the levels above it and disregard them in the absence of adequate compromise. In determining the most favourable interpretation and the most adequate compromise I will put words, original meaning, and intent above all. Then I will consider what the established practises, usually to be found as project precedents and essays, say. I will not ignore practical consequences, but I will not allow pragmatism to override the principles of Wikipedia. I will interpret as many "rules" as necessary and then merge these into one final opinion.
So I am a textualist and originalist driven by words and principles, mindfull of stare decisis, and not ignorant of practical consequences. I will do my utmost best to aproach everything with a neutral mind and even make calls that actively harm the presentation of my view of the world. I will do my best to promote this neutrality in others and I will do my best to guide new users.
↑While I seek to replicate these principles to how I read rules and conduct other official business (yes, I give Wikipedia official status) in other parts of my life, I can also often be purpose driven and pragmatic. I am a conservative in many ways, but I will not allow those values to intervine where they do not belong.
