Hi! I'm FinnishSisu. I'll be fixing to be a little nicer here sooner or later until then, Here's what I'm working on:

Cinema

Horror and Exploitation

edit

I have a lot of pertinent trivia and biographical information for horror and exploitation cinema, particularly from an academic perspective. In particular, I love German Expressionism, the Universal Monsters, Fifties B Features, and the historical era of Slashers, Zombie flicks, Exploitation, and low-budget/regional films that spans from Night of the Living Dead out to the end of the Slasher Golden Era.

German Expressionism

edit

I have an ardent for this era and movement, and, particularly, a desire to flesh out some of what has been obscured by a combination of modernity bias and poor internet documentation of text sources. This is a trickier field to study, but I hope I can help.

Slashers

edit

I have a lot of knowledge about the history of the genre, and actively research it-- I respectfully feel that much of the jargon currently used to describe and understand the genre (both in terms of convention and social/historical significance) is inconsistent and I'd like to lend a hand to that.

Ukrainian Cinema (2010s)

edit

There's a lot to be said for the recent (Post-Revolution of Dignity) efforts in the Ukrainian film industry to have a revitalization, with some impressive changes made and records set since Independence. It feels like this does not have an adequate presence on Wiki, in spite of its notability with in the history of the respective industry.

Finnish Cinema (Post-WWII)

edit

Still a student of this, but like with Ukrainian film, I'd like to bring some of my primary source knowledge over to Wiki-En. Particularly interested in working on films such as White Reindeer and The Witch.

About Me

edit

Former film academic and full time filmmaker. To be added!

I'll also look out for clunky wording and clarity improvements where I can help.

Cheers!
