Unionville Sharks

edit

You recently tagged Unionville Sharks for deletion under CSD A7, for articles about real people that don't assert the importance or significance of their subjects. It's certainly a poor article, but it clearly asserts importance or significance, by saying that it's the top ranked team in Ontario. Speedy deletion is only for articles which don't assert importance or significance; other problems are to be fixed by other methods. --bainer (talk) 00:50, 2 December 2006 (UTC)

Oops! You're absolutely right; notability was asserted and I should have prodded it. -FisherQueen 11:42, 2 December 2006 (UTC)

Gorram brats

edit

What the hell is with these kids? I'm so fucking sick of these kids giggling and posting shit about how "so-and-so is gay", thinking that it's a legitimate insult. I just blocked that jerk who posted on your talk page, since it's a kid pretending to be another kid and insulting him by saying "Look at me, I'm so gay." It really pisses me off. I always delete the "John Johnson is so gaaay" posts under WP:CSD#G3, not WP:CSD#G10, since I really don't like the idea that posting that someone is gay is an attack. But it seems to have multiplied lately, and I'm just really saddened by it. There's nothing I can do to change it--I just block them and they'll move onto another forum for their ignorant puerile crap. Ugh. Sorry. Rant over. I just wanted to explain why I deleted that. I may actually delete it from the page history (which will make it look like your talk page doesn't exist for a couple of seconds), but I haven't decided. Grrr. Not a happy Monday for Merope. -- Merope 19:50, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

That's fine. Sometimes it pisses me off, too, that the first insult that comes to these kids' minds is 'your gay'(sic). I missed this kid's userpage- you've got a mad fast delete finger- but I can imagine that it was probably fairly sophomoric, which is always depressing when written by a junior. Besides, these kids are the best argument against homophobia ever. "Look- here's someone who thinks gay people are disgusting and bad. Look how very, very stupid he is." -FisherQueen 19:54, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, I know. I think it's more symptomatic of my bi-weekly Wikistress attack than anything else. I need to learn to chill out and take a day off when I find myself thinking 1) everyone is stupid 2) I'm the only person who deletes anything or 3) I should block everyone ever.  ;)
On a personal note, I still plan to write you an e-mail about some things I've been thinking about, but haven't had the leisure to do so yet. (Well, okay, I've had the leisure to get really drunk while watching Star Wars with my friends, but I figured you didn't want a drunk e-mail from someone you barely know.) I may try writing it tonight--I had my first strength training session and my fingers are the only part of my body that doesn't hurt. Anyway, I haven't forgotten you, I'm just still mulling things over. Cheers. -- Merope 01:00, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
You know, I have a lot of personal information in userboxes. But it's always "You dumb lez," never "Stupid mick" or "Tea-swilling bastard" or "Reaver Scum." I'm not sure what this proves, exactly. -FisherQueen 13:23, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

For the record- they are right that I should have said "anagram," not "acronym." As for the rest... I have nothing useful to say. I don't think they understand what Wikipedia is. -FisherQueen 19:03, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
They made a nice(ish) apology on their userpage, to which I responded. I'm probably a bad admin, but I think there's a rule that accounts are one per person, and any evidence that the account is shared is grounds for blocking, but I can't remember if that's true or just something I made up. Oh, well. -- Merope 19:08, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
I have more interesting things to worry about, like undoing the mess that User talk:Roger1990 has made of Wiki in the last few hours. I don't need them blocked, particularly, unless they start up with the vandalism and name-calling again. -FisherQueen 19:10, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

Hello, I was trying to revert the vandalism on the "culture of greece " page, but my browser cuts off the bottom content so you reverted. If your browser doesn't have the same problem, could you change "the greece " under the first photo caption to "Greece", please - thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cleanup789 (talkcontribs)

Attack page warnings

edit

Hi FisherQueen, please use {{attack|page}} for attack pages in future. It's a lot more serious than a {{test}} warning since we usually block on the second offense. Thanks --  Netsnipe  ►  19:16, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

Cool. I generally choose the more minor tag because I always worry about biting the newcomers, but I can see how this would be useful for admins and I'll start tagging obvious attacks with the attack warning. -FisherQueen 19:19, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
That's probably my fault -- I remember coaching her on what tags to use, and I never used to use {{attack}}. Oops! -- Merope 20:18, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

Hello FisherQueen.

I appreciate your watch over the links of the Dodecanese Islands and Rhodes Island page (External Links section). You removed my link to the Federation of Dodecanese Islands Family Accommodations in Greece (http://www.blueislands.gr) which is Official from the Greek Government, and it provides information on the Dodecanese Islands, the history, the municipalities, the areas with photos, the history and more... The accommodations shown are members and the Federation is not making any money out of this website. There are no advertisements there and there will never be... It is only there to provide information. In the meantime, you left there the link to travelling-greece.com which is a COMPANY that has as a purpose to make money out of the visitors from wikipedia!!! If the Federation webpage is considered as spam according to you, then the travelling-greece.com website is what? Educational?

Could you explain your relation to travelling-greece.com and why you left this link while you removed the informative page to http://www.blueislands.gr ?

Thanks, fmanos—Preceding unsigned comment added by Fmanos (talkcontribs)

When I looked at your links, they appeared to be, not information about the places, but advertising for places for travellers to stay. If I misinterpreted the links, then I apologize. I didn't look at other links on the page, since I was just patrolling recent changes, but if there is a commercial link on that page, feel free to remove it. -FisherQueen 18:53, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

Hi FisherQueen please be advised that I have made necessary revisions. Thanks for pointing that out...You are correct there were some innacuracies but they were immediately corrected. The logo however, is a visual representation of the term and is not considered "Rights managed". The reason for the multiple revisions was to make the page look visually cohesive and moreover correcting innacuracies. It would be much appreciated to come to a resolution by your constant revising of the page. Moreover , this is not a "joke" as you put it. It is an expression of a term that is widely known. Regards. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ideaperson (talkcontribs)

Can you please explain why you keep deleting the Wan wan logo? This is a visual outline of the term. Thoughts??

Whats the abuse here? Lets discuss the real abuse by: The IP address at Cox Communications: 68.228.167.179 who has posted abusive and defamatory verbage, why havent you gone after them?

Reffered for deletion

edit

you should rat on this page because i think it's extremely disgraceful to Wikipedia & defamitory in the public domain. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dyke_%28lesbian%29 All the references are erroneuos and nonsence material. and I quote" Diesel dyke – more likely to present as butch who most likely drives a truck" do you call this resourceful? This is made up information. it's rediculous and insulting If the page remains up.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ideaperson (talkcontribs) 21:58, 24 December 2006.

You did not complete the steps necessary to refer the article Dyke (lesbian) for deletion. See this page for instructions on how to do it.
I believe that your referral of Dyke (lesbian) was not a good-faith edit, but is a personal attack against me, since I referred Wan Wan, which you created, for deletion, and since my userboxes identify me as a lesbian.
I request that you do not direct any further personal attacks against me. -FisherQueen 13:42, 26 December 2006 (UTC)

It wasnt a personal attack against you at all. And yes it was a derogatory page, Im shocked its written that way. I simply asked that you report it for me since im a newcomer with no experience, Im sure it takes you ten seconds to report it. the link you gave me will take a while for me to figure out. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ideaperson (talkcontribs) 2:34 pm ET, 26 December 2006.

There are going to be articles that are not up to YOUR standard, but it is only your standard and my article deserved more time. My article was up for what 5 minutes before you marked it for deletion...that is why I said you must be bias.

My page was also deleted within five minutes. I did not even get the time to finish it even when I put it on hold to get some time to reply to the questions. When I replied on my discussion page, she did not even bother to answer. I don't know if I will bother again about Wikipedia because the standards here are very unclear to me and it seems little use being part of that. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Kletskous (talkcontribs) 14:47, 27 December 2006 (UTC).

Thanks for the reply

edit

Thanks for the reply. I am new here and I thought it would be normal if you would check my page for a reply but I understand now that you expect people to come to you.. I don' understand what you said about notable. When I click on that link it is about notable persons but my page had nothing to do with persons. Now I have to contact an admin about this but I think you first should explain clear what your reasons were for speed deleting and why you did not give me the time to finish the page. If you might find the project not notable then you should ask yourself if Wikipedia is notable because in a way we are on the same mission... —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Kletskous (talkcontribs) 11:58, 28 December 2006 (UTC).

The notability requirement means that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a web directory- in order to be in here, something needs to be reasonably important or significant. The link you followed has sublinks to specific kinds of notability requirements: you'll find the notability requirements for web pages here. I hope they're helpful.
I didn't delete the page- I'm not an administrator, so I can't. All I did was tagged it. People like me look at brand-new pages and make a decision on whether or not they meet Wikipedia requirements, then tag the ones that don't for the attention of an admin, who makes a decision on whether or not to delete them.
Deleted pages can be brought back if the subject really is notable- I myself had a page I created deleted because I hadn't made the subject's notability clear enough. I contacted an administrator and provided sources that clearly showed how the subject was notable, and after some discussion, the page was resurrected. I had to think hard first, though, about whether I was sure the subject really was notable.
Welcome to Wikipedia, by the way. It can be tricky at first, but it's good work that we're doing here, and we're glad to have you. -FisherQueen 12:44, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

You should tag it with {{db-spam}}. G11 is a general criterion, and thus applies to any type of Wikipedia page: userpages, images, articles, talk pages, whatever. I've deleted the page and blocked the user for having a spammy username. -- Merope 21:06, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

Thanks. I'll know what to do with a similar page next time. PS- Have you seen Talk:Offical Colchester United Messagboard? I've been amused for hours watching these two go at it over this inane little page. A battle of wits between two unarmed opponents... -FisherQueen 21:12, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

Mistaken

edit

I think you're mistaken regarding Talk:Official Colchester United Messagboard - I never said I'd make that decision. He said that. All I did was flag it, then reply to his tacky little message by pointing him to the policy. In fact, if you look at My contributions, you'll see that I wasn't actually the one who typed ANY of those hateful comments to him. Someone did it and signed my name. Philippe Beaudette 22:11, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

Absolutely correct. I hadn't realized, when I left this note, that the IP user was signing his posts with your name. I apologize for misjudging you, and for not immediately seeing in the history that your good name was being disparaged by another. Would you like me to remove this note? -FisherQueen 22:20, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
Nah, leave it for a while. I'd presume other people are probably going to see the same page and I'd like them to see this explanation (and your confirmation of it). Thanks! Philippe Beaudette 22:22, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

I am the subject of Kimberley Walsh, and I have SERIOUS issues with this. It is an attack page. --Kimberley Walsh 14:01, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

It does not qualify as an attack page, and will not be deleted. All of the information within the article comes from reliable sources, and thus does not qualify for removal per WP:BLP. Furthermore, I have requested for administrators with a background in British popular music to investigate this user's claim to being a notable person, per our policies at WP:USERNAME.
