The Trenton Area Soup Kitchen (TASK) is a nonprofit organization of soup kitchens in Trenton, New Jersey.
History
editIn 1982, Alice Parker, the first executive director of TASK,[1] opened the organization's first location in the basement of the First United Methodist Church of New Jersey[2] as a response to the early 1980s recession.[3]

In August 2017, the organization began construction of a 3,679 square foot addition to its Escher Street location.[4]
Operation
editIn 2013, former executive director Dennis Micai estimated that the soup kitchen provided about 3,750 meals per week.[1] In 2022, executive director Joyce Campbell estimated that the soup kitchen provided over 8,000 meals per week.[3] In addition to providing hot meals, the organization also facilitates educational programs, case manager services, and giveaways.[4]
In 2012, over 60 percent of the organization's funding came from individual donations.[1]
