I am passionate about Roller Derby and I am actively working to see the sport in the Olympic Games some day. I have been part of the Windy City Rollers since 2006, where I served as a member of the Board of Directors and worked with the Events, Marketing and Interleague Committees. I currently run the Windy City Rollers home bouts, so if you come watch us, stop by and say hi. I am also part of the USA Roller Sports (USARS) Roller Derby Committee, which seeks to unify the practice and development of the sport in order to promote international competition at all levels, genders and styles. Our long-term goal is to elevate all aspects of derby in order to be able to present the discipline to the Olympic Committee.
I believe that the derby community must act now in order to prevent external interests to take our sport towards the road of fake, entertainment-based spectacle that has destroyed derby many times in the past. I am aware that the Olympics is not the only way to do that, but as a former athlete, that is the most valid and recognizable way I can think of. I believe it can be done, don't let anyone tell you otherwise...
Before derby, I played soccer professionally for 3 years at Atlante F.C. in Mexico. After my contract was sold, I was fortunate enough to receive a scholarship playing for Colorado College and the rest is history.
Please contact me if you have any questions about me or the USARS Roller Derby Committee.
