Conferencing Microphone Systems

edit

Media Vision USA provides both wireless and wired (daisy chained) push-to-talk microphone systems from Taiden and Close Talk. Push-to-talk microphones units incorporate gooseneck microphones with light-ring indicators attached to a base unit with built-in speakers and headphone jacks with independent volume control.[3]

Daisy chain microphone units are connected to one another via 6-pin DIN through one single cable. This single cable carries all audio, data and power to each microphone unit. The biggest advantages of daisy chain cabling are simplicity and scalability. It is easy to expand the number of microphone without hassle of twisted lines. For example, Taiden HCS-4100 series provided by Media Vision USA can have contribution microphones up to 4,096 with one main unit and extension units.[2]

A conferencing microphone system can be divided by function. The main unit is the central part of the system that is connected to all the microphones and controls the parameters of the meeting. One main unit can have various contribution units, such as microphones, electronic voting units, and simultaneous interpretation units. This main unit can be supported and controlled by conference software. The software can be used for pre-setup of conference information, delegate information, controlling method of microphone units and also control voting method or displaying result.

Conference microphones have two different kinds of units. One is chairman unit for mayor, or whoever is leading the meeting. Another unit is the delegate unit for council members, and participators in the conference. Both these units have common functions, such as voting keys (3 or 5), speaker/headset, IC card, light-ring indicator and channel selector for interpretation language selection.

Chairman units can be activated at any time and can also control delegate units. This unit has an addition button than the delegate units, called a priority key. This key can give priority to certain delegate units and mute or even switch off speaking delegate unit according to preset. One chairman unit is used during a conference and has control over all the other participants in the meeting. Delegate units are activated by pressing the push-to-talk button on the microphone unit. When pressed the light-ring indicator will illuminate to show the other participants whose microphone is active. If there are more than the allotted amount of people speaking and the push-to-talk button is pressed the light ring indicator will flash notifying the participants that this delegate is waiting to speak. The VIP function can be set up on any delegate station. This function allow the unit to be activated at any time and gives privileges over the standard delegates.

Simultaneous Interpretation

edit

Media Vision USA provides the Taiden simultaneous interpretation system.[4] The latest one is HCS-5100 series which is wireless digital infrared language distribution system.

The HCS-5100 simultaneous interpretation system consists of 3 parts: Radiator, Transmitter and Receiver. Transmitter is the main part that can setup various options and control volume for receivers. Each languages name can be assigned through this transmitter for easy identification and it can adjust sensitivity for each input to enable fine-tuning of radio levels. Each wireless receiver can be activated within the range of IR power radiator. It has freedom of movement and also no limited number of receivers can be setup within the IR power range of radiator. Each receiver can adjust its own volume or channel, and be worn around the neck via a strap or fit into a shirt pocket. It can also be equipped with alarm system to prevent the loss or theft.
