Playscii
editPlayscii is an open source ASCII art & animation program including PETSCII fonts and many others, can also make games using Python 3.
This tool is compatible with Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X and Linux (requires manual compilation from source) this program can be ran on pretty much anything (CRT effect demands high CPU though).
History
editEarly development (2014)
editPlayscii started development somewhere around December 2014. The first consisted of a simple application that you used your mouse to move around a cursor on a grid and draw using a fixed Commodore 64 PETSCII font with a fixed Commodore 64 color palette. The program was quite basic and didn't include a CRT effect or anything, just a basic ASCII drawing program.
Later development (2015)
editLater on, the developer(s) decided to add more features like custom color palettes and fonts. Then they went on and added small features for a while, then they added the CRT effect. After that, they added stuff like the topbar and more tools. Then the program was pretty much like it is today.
