Fixed oils are known to have a high calorific value, however, the NSBS has found that the consumption of fixed oils (if taken in the correct dose) lines the stomach with a thick coating, effectively preventing calories from being absorbed. Due to the oil's density, it is much harder to digest which results in blockage around the stomach lining. What this does is it gives you a one-hour time frame to eat as many kilocalories as desired without any being consumed. After an hour your body works to push down the oil (with the food in it) to the digestive system so that it could be excreted which burns 50% percent of the kilocalories of your weight in lbs. The more fibre consumed = the higher the percentage because your body takes up more energy trying to break down the fibre.

The NSBS recommends a quantity between 50ml-150ml of the oil taken at different intervals throughout the day to cleanse the body. Performing this cleanse habitually has shown to have many benefits as the nutrient-rich oil starts to alter the body as well as its ability to digest food including the oil itself. The consumption of controlled amounts of oil also boosts the production of the T3 and T4 hormones, which manage the amount of energy obtained from kilocalories.

A study back in 2003 involved 304 people ages 18-24. Half of the patients were allocated to take 50ml of olive oil before every meal with an additional 500+ kilocalories above their BMR (which was compulsory to complete) while the others were told to eat within their BMR every day for up to 2 weeks. A few of the people taking the oil did not succeed because they couldn’t stand the taste or texture of the olive oil, however the many who did saw a dramatic change in size and weight as the students who didn't take any oil only maintained their weight. One in four people lost over 15kgs which was extremely impressive considering this was throughout the course of two weeks and they were eating above their BMR.

As well as being beneficial in weight loss, it is also good for boosting hair and nail growth. The vitamin D and vitamin E contents in olive oil are effective in preventing skin cancer as well as moisturising dry skin and lips. The antioxidants found in the olive oil help to fight against the oxidation from the sun. Studies show that only three in every 100,000 residents living in the Mediterranean region get skin cancer, because of how common drinking olive oil is in these areas.
