About me

Hi, I'm Gavin. I am an 18 year old college student that currently attends my local Community College. I love all activities that bring out my adventurous side. Whether that be trekking through a new hike, or flying to a whole new location, If I could I would spend all of my free time traveling! My favorite sport is Soccer, it is played in over 200 Countries with around 250 million players worldwide. I started playing when I was just 5 years old. After years of playing I hope to play for the college soccer team.

My Wikipedia interests

Wikipedia was created before I was even born so It has been a helpful tool for over a decade now. It always contains rather unique and interesting facts about almost any topic you can think of. If I end up pursuing Wikipedia and writing content for its pages, the tasks most interesting to me would be either fact checking or expanding information about specific topics. There is so much false information spread around on the internet it can make it hard to do research on almost any specific subject, unless it is written by a reputable source which can lower search results to a minimum.

Article evaluation

I have been interested in soccer for a large majority of my life. When you think of soccer you think of the big names such as FC Barcelona or Manchester United F.C. But you never hear about the smaller clubs, well for obvious reasons. So I decided to find a lesser-known club. I visited the Doxa Vyronas F.C. article on Wikipedia, and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: Its active or recent standings, lack of sources, and overall article upkeep.

Active standings:

The Wikipedia page shows championship participation and status of certain divisions but these statistics are very outdated. Some of these dates go back to the 1950s which would not be inadequate if it was in the history section of the club. In terms of recent standings, no one would have any idea of what the team has been up to in the last 8 years, showing the Delta Ethniki championship of 2007-2008.

Citations:

There are no citations on this page. No informational backup, nothing to lead me to believe that any of this given information is even true. With the amount of information given there should have a substantial amount. The only posted external link leads to the actual Doxa Vyronas F.C. website which has updated information about the club.

Article upkeep:

In the article revision history, it shows that the page has been updated within the last year but useful information has not been updated in a very long time. Clubs like these can change frequently from a variety of things such as jersey style, player standings, coaches, sponsors, etc. The wiki page should also include practice location, player appearances, and at the bare minimum pictures that represent the club.

CONCLUSION:

If I were to give this Wikipedia page a rating I would give it a 3/10. The page provides no citations which would typically lead one to believe that the information given is actually true. It lacks crucial information regarding player statistics or active/recent game standings. Even the smallest effort to maintain this page could be including pictures of player appreciation or its own coach.
