About me
editI am a caregiver and a gamer. My job as a caregiver consists of supporting my clients in doing everyday tasks and activities such as doing the dishes and take them out to bowl. During my days off, I love to play video games with my close friends, some video games I enjoy are League of Legends, Minecraft, and Valorant. My other favorite pastime would have to be photography and editing the pictures right after.
My Wikipedia activities
editI've used Wikipedia in many of my researches and projects over the time I've been in school. I'd want to take the time to build a portfolio on what I'll be researching/learning about during the course of this class in the near future.
Article Evaluation
editI wanted to do my article evaluation on a reptile called crested geckos because I myself own 2 as a pet and their names are Yukio & Tokyo. I visited the "Crested Gecko" article on Wikipedia and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: their lack of information on pet care, its lack of citations and irrelevant use of links, and I feel that they were not thorough enough with the topic of gecko behaviors.
Lack of information
editThis Wikipedia article has missed their chance to add a pet care guide section because this animal is now a very common household pet. I see that they've only added information on what they feed on which is a diet of mixed fruit and insect powder, but they have yet to mention what sized tank they need, what substrate to use, the temperature it needs in order to survive, and many more. The article also did not mention that they have sticky feet pads, so they can climb on not only trees but also glass and walls.
Citations
editThere are a good amount of citations on the page already but I feel that they could've added many more. For new users who know nothing about crested geckos, I feel that there are a lot of places, body parts, and other unknown words in the article that could've been linked. Another thing, they used citations for the most irrelevant words such as: "grey, "brown", "red", "orange", and "yellow". They should instead link words such as "harlequin", "seta", "predators", etc.
Under-represented category
editI feel that they weren't very detailed/thorough with their research with the gecko's behaviors. They've missed adding some well-known attributes of cresties like how they love being pet, they are nocturnal creatures, and when they are angry, they tend to bite but their bites do not feel like anything at all.
Summary
editOverall, I'd say that this page is quite a reliable article for information about where they originated and their appearance. I wouldn't say that this is a page to go to if you're trying to research guides for how to care for them as pets. The "reproduction" section has 5 citations in total with not really any sources that were linked to backup their statements. The site links very odd words but most of the information written is accurate from what I've researched.
