Ustad Dr.Gulam Rasool khan was born in poor family on 24/04/1927 without having any music background. He was interested in singing from childhood and similarly his voice was too melodious, soul-stirring, and sonorous. Due to poor condition of family he could not able to get the specific education of music. He did complete his interest in learning of music by listening and reading the different types of books. In that period he got companionship of knowledgeable artist like pt.Badriprasad & pt.Manilalji. Through this he acquired abundance in singing. He was famous as a Gazal singer in 1947. He laid the foundation of “LALIT KALA MANDAL “in Parbhani. Through this academy he gave the classical training to countless disciples who immensely benfitted by this. His style of singing was incomparable and captivating. Government of India was made documentary film in 16 languages on his life by considering his long service in the field of music in 1994. Ustadji is honored by many award like Maharashtra Bhushan., Kusumtai Chavhan, D-LIT etc. The disciple of khan saheb is scattered all over world. In that mostly Pt. Shri.Devidas Ardhapurkar ,pt.Bhagvandas Ramawat , smt.Snehprabha Velankar ,Dr.Shriram choudhari , shri.Bhagwan Joshi , Pt. Sakharam Borul, Ustad Hannumiya Khan, Pt. Arunkumar Deshpande, Sou. Nalini Bidkar, Shri Bhagwat Panchal, Pt.Milind Salapurikar, Pt. Prasad choudhari, surshri Pt. Dr.Parag choudhari , Prof. Dr.Vijaykumar Wawle (Nashik), Pt.Swati Ramrao Deshpande, Pt.Ramrao Deshpande etc. Such devotee of music is passed away on 10th of Jan 2011. Disciple of Ustadji Started a Classical sangeet mohotsav by his name Ustad Gulam rasool sangeet mohotsav at aurangabad its in jan of feb every year.
