Douglass C. Perry (born December 28, 1965) is an American video game journalist whose work encompasses online, print, and television media. He has reported on the game industry since 1994.

He began working as managing editor of Next Generation Magazine in fall 1994. He worked with editor in chief Neil West, reviews editor Trent Ward, and features editor Chris Charla. Doug is mainly known for his 11-year span of work at IGN, where he edited the first channel, N64.com in 1996, and was a founding editor. He would become the editor-in-chief of IGN, and the PlayStation, PlayStation 2, Xbox, and Xbox 360 sites. When Imagine Publishing spun off IGN as part of Snowball.com, he broke dozens of news stories ("And Now for Something Completely Different"), landed exclusives ("First BioShock Video), and wrote extensive features ("Fall 2006: Where's the Beef?" and "The Influence of Literature and Myth in Videogames").

While at IGN, he appeared on CNN Headline News (discussing Grand Theft Auto III and Vice City), Spike TV's Game Head (the 2006 console wars), MTV (Gears of War 1 multiplayer), the BBC News (on the PS2 launch), IGN Weekly, GamerNation, and had a semi-weekly appearance on G4TV. He wrote 11 strategy guides from 1997-2002 for Brady Publishing including GoldenEye 007, Tomb Raider III, and Diddy Kong Racing, among others.

He left IGN in April 2007 to become editorial director of GameTap with Turner Broadcasting. His exit was captured in IGN's Cubetoons Toons: Level 62 and in a story on GameDaily entitled, "Media Exodus: IGN's Doug Perry, GameSpot's Curt Feldman, CNN's Chris Morris, 1UP's Luke Smith Depart.".

At GameTap he hired veteran editors Curt Feldman, Jon Robinson, Giancarlo Varanini, Thierry Nguyen, Dana Jongewaard, Wes Nihei, and Street Fighter tournament champion Jared Rea. He made connections at CNN (also owned by Turner), enabling GameTap’s editors to write for CNN’s tech site ("GTA' multiplayer lets you and 15 pals cause havoc). He also appeared on CNN’s Hardline news program.

After leaving GameTap in 2008, he returned to Future Publishing and spearheaded editorial for DailyRadar's aggregation site Daily Radar as director of content and community. In 2009 he freelanced for several publications including Edge Magazine, Gamasutra, VentureBeat, GameDaily, GamesRadar, What They Play, and wrote cover stories for PlayStation: The Official Magazine, Play (US Magazine), and helped re-launch EGM as the San Francisco Editor. He also worked behind the scenes with publishers and developers analyzing and critiquing games in progress including Electronic Arts, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, Sega, Take-Two Interactive, LucasArts, Ubisoft, Criterion Games, Volition, and Eidos Interactive.

In 2009, He moderated the U.C. Berkeley's Hass School of Business panel, "The Monetization Game" with Ngmoco's CEO Neil Young, co-Founder of Red Octane Kai Huang, and Electronic Arts President of Sports, Peter Moore (business). Additionally, he has spoken at the Columbia College Chicago about trans-media issues and at Millbrae High School's Career Day about Video game journalism.

In 2010, Metacafe.com hired him to launch its new video game studio, where he recruited and signed content partners (GameSpot, GamesRadar, Machinima, and The Escapist), created video features, and wrote and produced popular Web TV shows “Pixelated” and “My Favorite Game.”

Perry is currently (2012) a freelance journalist and editor writing for EGM, Kotaku, and Machinima and consults on game development with a half dozen prominent game publishers.
