My Background
editGlyptemys is the genus name of two species of North American turtles and my Wikipedia user name. I'm a Canadian biologist interested in understanding and protecting biodiversity. I work within the museum sector and am involved in both policy and practical applications of science in the service of conservation and sustainability.
In addition to my interests in science, I've always enjoyed working with computers. My experience goes back (gasp) to the mid-1970s, when my first high school summer job was as a keypunch operator for a statistical study. I've programmed in Fortran, Cobol, APL and other ancient languages, and have been writing HTML code and developing web sites since 1995.
