Gary McKillips is a veteran broadcaster and public realtions professional. He also acts and has appeared as sportscaster Jack Whitaker in the ESPN/ABC movie special, Ruffian, released in 2007.
McKillips has served as a sportswriter in Clevelaqnd,Ohio and has called more than 500 play-by-play broadcasts of football and basketaball for stations in Albany (NY) area, and Atlanta (GA). He has also reports on Atlanta pro and collegiate sports for a variety of networks and local stations including Associated Press Radio Sports, XM Satellite Radio, MLB Radio and WIP Radio in Philadelphia. He is a member of the advisory board of the American Sportscasters Association (ASA) and a regular contributor to ASA's on-line and print newsletters. His article on former Cleveland Indians sportscaster Jimmy Dudley is part of a collection at the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown.
His public realtions activities have included stints as vice president, corporate and sports PR for Turner Broadcasting System; vice president of public affairs for Contel, a nationwide telecommunications firm; and head of PR for the University of Tennessee and Georgia State University's J. Mack Robinson College of Business.
He is a member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA); former presdient of PRSA's Georgia Chapter; chair of PRIME, Public Realtions in Management Education; and a member of the public relations advisory board of the Graduate Management Admissions Council (GMAC).
A native of Cleveland, Ohio, McKillips resides in Atlanta, is married and has three sons, one in St. Louis, one in San Francisco and one in New York City. His wife, Anne, is a consultant in the employee benefits industry.
