Ronald Joseph Hardy (July 14, 1943 – November 16, 1995) was an American politician who was the State Treasurer of Delaware from 1989 to 1995, when he committed suicide by stabbing himself repeatedly in the stomach and chest (near the heart). Hardy committed suicide due to losing his wife Melinda of 30 years to Cancer the previous day. Many consider Hardy’s death eerily similar to that of R. Budd Dwyer (who was also a politician and treasurer) about 8 years prior (January 22, 1987).
