Early Life

edit

Hugh Robert “Guy Feihrstone” Ferrell was born in Kent, Ohio on July 19, 1953. He moved to Vernon, Connecticut with his family at the same time George Cockrell and his family moved there. Ferrell quickly became best friends with George, and later, with Bart Cockrell.

Career

edit

Ferrell was in numerous amateur bands for most of his career. He joined George Cockrells band in 1991 on bagpipes. He played on the Cockrells demo album and a few songs on Smokey Nights. However, Ferrell quickly left the band midway through Smokey Nights after George decided that bagpipes weren’t a good fit for his band. Ferrell did come back and perform on several other Cockrell albums, this time playing the organ (his main instrument), but was never an official member after 1991.
