We Are Star Children is an American synth-folk-pop band. Their line-up includes a flame-throwing keytar, an accordion, guitars, tenor banjo, bass, flute, drums, and the Helmetron 3000 ™. They strap their hearts to their sleeves, put their fingers to the music, and ask that you echo their love with nods and rhythmic swings of the pelvis.[1]
History
editScrunchy to Straight Punch to the Crotch to Cricket and the Whip to We Are Star Children
It was originally formed in the early 80s as a spandex-wearing hair-metal band under the name of Scrunchy. Due to wardrobe disputes between band members Gene Osborn and Tristan Puckett, the band changed its name to Straight Punch to the Crotch in the 90s, where they soon exploded on the Charlottesville music scene.[2]
