"We want the ball and we're going to score!"
editThe phrase is not the name of the game. If you can find a way to better way to rephrase it, then do so. Clarityfiend (talk) 00:11, 27 June 2024 (UTC)
- Hi, I restored the original version as per WP:BRD. Happy to elaborate more tomorrow when I have a few minutes. That said, i feel like your issue is more about the name of the article. Maybe you would be interested in putting forward a WP:RM? I sympathize with you as it took me a while to figure out what the article should be named and how it should read per policy. I really dont want to fight over this and am happy to discuss further or have a larger WP discussion about it. « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 04:37, 27 June 2024 (UTC)
- The phrase is the proper name of the article, since that is what people remember (though there should not be quotes - see Category:Quotations and particularly Category:Quotations from sports). So really, this should be a quotation article, not a game one. And, as I have just noticed, A drive into deep left field by Castellanos uses pretty much the exact same phrasing as I did. - Hi Clarityfiend, I am happy to move this to another venue, say WP:NFL to gather additional input or find some consensus. I appreciated you coming to my talk page after WP:BRD, but did not appreciate you reverting without even giving me an opportunity to respond. Typically, as the discussion occurs, the original version remains until we find some consensus.
- I appreciate your point about quotations. I will likely move the article to remove them whenever this is all said and done. That said, the game itself is notable because of what Hasselbeck said. The NFL ranked it as one of the greatest games in NFL history [1]. The other thought I had was to go with the standard naming for these games: 2004 NFC Wild Card playoff game (Seattle–Green Bay). But that isn't the WP:COMMONNAME for the game, the play, the statement, etc.
- Look, I really, really don't want to battle on this and am happy to get some consensus from other editors, likely at WP:NFL. Are you ok with stepping back for a second and moving the discussion there? « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 14:55, 27 June 2024 (UTC)
- I've gone ahead and moved it to WT:NFL. « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 15:24, 27 June 2024 (UTC)

Draft pick lists
editHey Gonzo, I just had a comment at one of my FLCs, and I noticed that I think you ran into the same issue I did... in Detroit Lions draft picks (1970–present), I currently have the {{main}} template below the images, because putting it above the images causes the images to start on a new line instead of the same one as the hatnote. Unfortunately, this is against MOS:SECTIONORDER, so I have to go through and fix it on my lists. Currently trying to figure out if there's a way for both to start on the same time, as this messed up the layout a bit if the images are bumped down on each occasion. Hey man im josh (talk) 13:40, 1 July 2024 (UTC)
- Hey man im josh Can you point me to where MOS:SECTIONORDER says that this should happen? In that link, the hatnotes being discussed are those found prior to the article content (and thus the ones that show up at the top of the article's page). Placement of this template is important, because it would affect the placement of the text. I don't see this section commenting on in-the-body-of-the-article hatnotes, whose placement relative to images doesn't affect how the text is rendered (ie it does not cause a huge line break of white space or place the image above the hatnote)hat note. Granted I'm on my phone, so I may have missed something. Will be on PC in a little bit. « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 14:05, 1 July 2024 (UTC)
- Hey, sorry, I meant to subscribe to this section when I replied. I see you've replied at the FLC, which I appreciate. Truthfully, I was also confused, which is why I was more or less deferring and asking around about it. Hey man im josh (talk) 17:49, 1 July 2024 (UTC)
