The first missionaries were sent to south Peru in 1927. Baptist Missions work in Europe goes back to it's work in France in 1972.

Ireland
editBaptist Missions has been church planting in Ireland since the 19th century.
Mission Partners
editBM have 15 Mission Partners groups working in a variety of locations in Ireland, including Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
Peru
editBM first sent missionaries to South Peru in 1927. BM work is mainly among the Aymara people, living in the Sierra of the Andes mountains around lake Titicaca where there is a thriving Baptist community of well over 100 churches. In recent years thousands of Aymara families have migrated to the costal cities of Tacna, Ilo and Moquequa and as a result most BM work in the shanty towns of these cities.

Radio El Sembrador
editRadio El Sembrador (The Sower) or Sower Radio aims to broadcast evangelistic programmes and quality Bible teaching around the Tacna district. Resources include a custom-made building, equipment (computers, cabins and recorders) and a team of workers. Radio El Sembrador broadcasts 24 hours a day through the internet
Tacna Bookshop
editTacna Bookshop is a three story building with shop front based beside the Tacna Seminary auditorium. Resources include a self-contained flat for the Tacna Seminary director.
SAD
editThe SAD programme (Seminary at a Distance) brings the benefits of a bible college training to those who cannot easily attend one of the existing centres in Tacna or Moquegua. At the moment that means those who live in the various provinces of Puno and also Ilo. The programme has a double emphasis:
- First the formation of distance learning centres in strategic provincial centres where students can study on a part time basis through intensively taught courses or using other distance learning materials. This part of the program is designed to suit church leaders who have work and family commitments for whom full-time study would be impossible.
- Second the program is the provision of a limited number of grants so that students from these outlying areas can come and study and receive practical training in Moquegua on a fulltime basis. Full time students receiving a grant, receive their food, board and tuition without charge during the 9 months of the year that the seminary has classes. They do not receive any cash in hand or help during out of term time.
It is anticipated that students will study for 1, 2 or 3 years depending on their ability and the time they have available and that at the end of this time they will return to their own communities and local churches. Obviously this part of the program is targeted principally at younger people who are more flexible and do not have the same home and work responsibilities.
Peruvian Workers
editAt present BM have 16 Peruvian Workers employed by BM. These workers depend on the prayerful generosity of missions supporters for their salary. Another facet of this project is the students on the University of Wales, Lampeter Master of Arts in Theology (MA) course through Irish Baptist College who work while studying.
