In February 2016, a roving IP editor added ~150 {{dead link}} templates - it included an in-text comment "consider changing the domain" and often recommended archive.is in the edit summary

This AWB task is removing many of the {{dead link}}'s added by the roving IP:

  • The links are often not actually dead because there is a working archive link for archive.today or archive.is
  • The placement is sometimes wrong and messes up the rendered page.
  • The placement can confuse other LinkRot bots such as IABot and WaybackMedic
  • IABot will (sooner or later) check for dead links on every page and fix them if a link is available, or add a {{dead link}} if not.
  • The comment "consider change the domain" makes no sense in the context of an archive URL. If the editor believed archive.today should be changed to archive.is then do that, but a {{dead link}} is superfluous.
