My name is Jun Liu. Currently I am a first year graduate student at University of Pittsburgh, majoring in Information Science.
Previously, I studied Bioinformatics at Huazhong University of Science and Technology in China, from which I learnt how to apply various methods of computer science, mathematics and biology to analyzing mass biological data. After graduation, I worked in China Unionpay Merchant Services CO., LTD as a software developer. I developed the processing program of bank cards transaction data, based on its bank cards acquiring and clearing system. And through these experiences, I'm equipped with professional skills, such as C/C++, Perl, PL/SQL, Matlab and HTML.
I am very interested in learning how to apply information science methods to deal with issues in the field of big data. This semester, at University of Pittsburgh, I am studying five courses, including Data Structure,Database Management, Social Computing, Web Technologies and Standards and Fundamentals of Object-oriented Programming.
