Early Life and Education Born in Salvador, Brazil, Roberto Guimaraes spent most of his early years relocating to various cities in Brazil, Portugal, and Mexico, showcasing a diverse international upbringing. He moved to the United States at the age of fifteen and completed his high school education at Clements High School near Houston, Texas. He graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 2004, then transitioned into corporate finance roles spanning both Brazil and the US, later returning to Houston to obtain an MBA from Rice University in 2009. Roberto also holds the CFA Charterholder designation.
Career Roberto Guimaraes embarked on his professional trajectory in M&A and corporate development, swiftly gaining recognition for his strategic investment insights. His tenure at Shell and Repsol, spanning over 12 years, saw him in various capacities in M&A, investment, and corporate development, where he assessed more than $100 billion worth of deals and helped execute over $12 billion worth of transactions. As of 2021, Guimaraes has been instrumental as Director of Mergers & Acquisitions at Air Liquide a French multinational and global leader in gases, technologies, and services for Industry and Health. At his current role Guimaraes played pivotal roles in closing and assessing various opportunities across various sectors including Green Hydrogen, Chemicals, Specialty Gases, Helium, Health Care, and Biogas. Roberto is also a leader in energy and energy transition investments, working various opportunities in this space over the years.
