Public celebrations serve to distinguish between National and World Council observances. Nearly all of these holidays are observed between today and tomorrow. edit"Bangladesh Days" are only observed on Bangladesh's own days. Only Bangladesh celebrates these days. However, some expatriate Bengali who live in other nations throughout the world also observe these days.

- Bangabandhu's Homecoming Day*: 10 January
- Bangladesh celebrates Bangabandhu's Homecoming Day on January 10 to honor Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, who returned to the country after being freed from Pakistan. This day marks the end of Bangladesh's independence fight and marks the beginning of a new era under Bangabandhu's rule.[1]
- National Teacher's Day: January 19
- Shaheed Asad Day: January 20
- Amanullah Asaduzzaman, a student leader, was shot and murdered by police on this day in 1969 AD while participating in a protest calling for the overthrow of Ayub Shahi's dictatorship in what was then East Pakistan (modern-day Bangladesh). He and Shaheed Rustam and Shaheed Matiur were two of the three martyrs of the 1969 Bengali rebellion.[2]
- Mass Uprising Day: 24 January
- On this date in 1969, East Pakistani students staged a demonstration in protest of the country's then-regime. Ninth-grade student Matiur Rahman was slain by police gunfire as the parade was going on. The purpose of this holiday is to remember that revolt.[3]
- Bengali Popularity Day on Computer: 25th January
- On this day in 1985, foreign engineer Saifuddahar Shaheed installed the first Bengali script on Apple's Macintosh computer.

- On this date in AD 2001, the inaugural National Sundarban Conference, which was attended by 70 environmentalist groups, including Khulna University under the Bangladesh Environment Movement, decided to celebrate the day as Sundarbans Day.[4]
