Webjet Group

Webjet Group (ASX: WJL) is a digital travel organisation operating market leading travel brands and travel tech businesses.^[1]

It was created following the demerger of Webjet Limited on 23 September 2024. It comprises of B2C businesses Webjet OTA, GoSee and Trip Ninja.^[2] It operates separately to Web Travel Group.

Brands

Webjet OTA

Founded in 1998, Webjet OTA is proudly Australian and now operates as Australia and New Zealand's leading online travel agency. It enables customers to compare, combine, and book domestic and international travel flight deals, hotel accommodation, holiday package deals, travel insurance and car hire worldwide.^[3]

Airport Rentals

Airport Rentals is a global e-commerce travel website enabling customers to search, compare and book rental cars worldwide. Part of the GoSee Travel Group (formerly Online Republic), Airport Rentals’ value was recognised through the acquisition by Webjet in 2016.^[4]

Motorhome Republic

Motorhome Republic is one of the largest motorhome and campervan rental agencies in the world, enabling customers to search, compare, and save on thousands of vehicles from a wide range of suppliers globally.

Part of the GoSee Travel Group (formerly Online Republic), Motorhome Republic’s value was recognised through the acquisition by Webjet in 2016.^[5]

Trip Ninja

Trip Ninja is a technology company providing complex travel itinerary automation technology to digital travel businesses. Its technology automates the highly manual process of selling complex multi-stop travel itineraries.^[6]

Trip Ninja was acquired in 2021 to enhance the Webjet OTA offering and remains exclusive to Webjet OTA in Australia and New Zealand. Trip Ninja is commercially available to OTA's outside of the Australian market.^[7]

Leadership

Katrina Barry was appointed CEO of Webjet Group on 23 September 2024, in line with the founding of Webjet Group as an independent ASX listed company.^[8]

Prior to that, she served as Global CEO of the hospitality company me&u and spent nearly a decade at the Travel Corporation, where she led renowned brands such as Contiki Holidays and Trafalgar Tours.^[9]

Katrina is joined by Webjet OTA CEO, David Galt, and Go See CEO, Darren Linton, who post-demerger remain in leadership positions across Webjet Group’s key brands.

History

Webjet Limited (Webjet) was founded in 1998, with the aim to disrupt traditional norms in the highly competitive online travel industry.^[10]

In 2004, Webjet brought to market the world’s first Travel Services Aggregation technology, bringing together multiple travel products for distribution to consumers.^[11]

In 2010, Webjet became the #1 OTA in Australia and New Zealand.^[12]

In 2013, Webjet established WebBeds in Dubai – a global marketplace for the travel trade. Since the 2024 demerger of Webjet Limited (renamed Web Travel Group), WebBeds is no longer affiliated with Webjet Group.^[13]

In 2016, Webjet acquired Online Republic (now named GoSee), a market leader in online car hire, motorhome and cruise segments.^[14]

In 2020, Webjet OTA launched its Sustainable Traveler program, enabling carbon offset for flights, shortly followed by hotels.^[15]

In 2021, Webjet acquired Trip Ninja to allow Webjet OTA to offer highly competitive, complex multi-stop travel itineraries.^[16]

In 2021, Online Republic was rebranded as GoSee.^[17]

In 2022, Trip Ninja went live on Webjet OTA.^[18]

In 2023, Webjet OTA became a Toitū net carbonzero certified organisation.^[19]

In 2024, Webjet Group demerged from the Web Travel Group (formerly Webjet Limited) creating two independent ASX-listed companies.^[20]
