Okay. This is the first ArbCom elections guide that I make, and I hope this helps to give an insight on each of the candidates, as well as my personal opinions on their suitability to become Arbitrators. Notwithstanding, I give you the standard disclaimer: This represents my views and opinions, especially on Wikipedia philosophy. I encourage you to do your own research. A bit about me: I am a wikiarchaeologist who created his account on 2 March 2008 but never got into editing as a whole until September 2011. I have collected 18 GAs, 2 FAs, 2 FLs and almost 20 DYK credits. I got involved in reviewing Good article nominees in March/May 2012. Later in June, I designed, proposed and co-ordinated my first drive at WP:GAN alongside Wizardman. The Guide Editor Thoughts Verdict Beeblebrox (talk · contribs) Beeblebrox is a good admin, there is not aguing for that. He has had his issues but overall he's good. Sysopped in 2009 and oversighted in 2010, he started his account in 2007 and has accumulated a good quantity of edits. I like him, but I don't think the project will benefit from his appointment as an Arb. He'd better stay as an admin only and do what he does better, with liberty. ArbCom will restrict his actions and I consider that to be not good. Likely Oppose Carcharoth (talk · contribs) I don't know much about him, but seems thoughtful enough, and experienced enough, to hold the job. Also, he has already been an Arb, and knows how to handle the title, so giving him the right to be back after a two-year break seems reasonable enough. His premise of bringing stability to the project seems very good, as he knows how the committee works. Likely Support Coren (talk · contribs) Coren, just like Carcharoth, has been an Arb member before, and although I'd like to see new faces, its always good to have some recurrent members that have been on both sides of the blade. I will likely support him, as he has the experience to hold the job. Likely Support Count Iblis (talk · contribs) Not ready. He is running together with YOLO Swag on behalf of the ArbCom reform party. Oppose David Fuchs (talk · contribs) Sitting Arbitrator who has done a good work overall. He has the experience and the temperament to stay there at his job. There is no main reason to oppose him. Support Elen of the Roads (talk · contribs) Elen of the Roads is one of the most impressive Arbitrators we have had in a long time. Thoughtful, pacient and lenient, she is the perfect candidate for this kind of jobs. She brings balance and prefers slow and steady options rather than violent ones, which is, mostly, what Arbitrators are expected to do. She has had several issues with her performance as arbitrator, but she is a must. Update: I still support her bid after the big email leak disaster. Why? because some people make mistakes and, even when she can perfectly be sanctioned, I still trust her to hold the arbitrator seat. I'm not convinced about her removal, and I believe she is needed to bring balance to ArbCom. Support Guerillero (talk · contribs) I like Guerrillero. He seems to be a very minded user, apart from being an ArbCom clerk that has worked as expected. Although, he lacks experience enough to hold the job. He has only been here for a rough three years, and although that does not meen anything remarkable, I'd like him to be clerk for another year and then run in 2013. Anyways, he's got my support. Likely Support Jc37 (talk · contribs) Jc37 is one of the most creative and technically influential users Wikipedia has had since X!. His work as a maintenance Wikipedian, as well as his amazing career at proposals, weight in and leave a very good impression of him. Although, he is not completely suitable for ArbCom, and having him doing the job will mean that Wikipedia's engine will live a cooldown that is not desired. We need a change, and Jc37 is one of the driving forces leading them. So, I can't support him because we need him in other places, and i can't oppose because he deserves the job too. Update: Thinking of it again, I support Jc37. ArbCom needs some sort of overhaul, and Jc's brilliant mind will help the system to reach this change. He is a very strong candidate and a very thoughtful user, after all. Support Jclemens (talk · contribs) His recent comments, as well as his behaviour, debunked all the good thoughts I had of Jclemens. He is still a good user and deserves such recognition, but he is no longer suitable as an Arb. Calling a user that is in the midst of a siteban "not a Wikipedian" is a biased claim that should never come from the mouth of a sitting Arbitrator. Update: I still oppose Jclemens on his bid for this year's elections. I think he needs a year out of ArbCom and dedicate himself to other parts of the encyclopedia. I will gladly support him again in 2013 if he decides to run, but not now. I think it's better if he stays out of ArbCom for a year or so. He needs it. Oppose Keilana (talk · contribs) Keilana is a solid candidate. She has all the ropes an Arb needs to sit there, and I hope she finally achieves this. Admin, OTRS, MedCom, SPI clerk trainee as well as content writer, Keilana is well versed in most Wikipedia things, and this is an amazing net positive ArbCom needs. So, she is a must. Support Ks0stm (talk · contribs) Ks0stm seems to be pretty clueful and would make a good appointment. He has been active since 2009 and became sysop in Sept. 2011. That may work as a double-edged sword: He's not much time as admin, and then would not have all the experience desired. Also, he seems not to have experience on dispute resolution, and this will work against him. I'll likely support him, but I'd expect more DR experience before becoming an Arb. Likely Support Kww (talk · contribs) Kww is an incredible admin, and the job he does as such is very good. Although, having him at ArbCom is not desired: he's not the type of users that are completely suitable as Arbitrators even when they have a long experience about Wikipedia stuff. I support most of his actions when working on music-related stuff, and he's a pioneer of some of the methods we use today, but I can't support him being an arb, and got no reasons to oppose either. Neutral Newyorkbrad (talk · contribs) There are no words enough to explain my support to one of the best [if not the best] arbitrators Wikipedia has ever seen. Newyorkbrad is the only user that will be an arbitrator until he decides not to be there anymore. Community suppurts him as an Arb, and this is not going to change. Actually, community demands him to be an arbitrator. Support NuclearWarfare (talk · contribs) NuclearWarfare is a very solid candidate that will eventually be a good arbitrator, in my opinion. His appointment is already written on the books, and now he will have to live up to expectations. He has a lot of experience as a clerk, as well as being an admin and oversighter. If we need fresh faces at ArbCom this year, then you can safely pick up NuclearWarfare. Support Pgallert (talk · contribs) I don't know much about him, but his availability is pretty worrysome. The fact that he is not an admin is off topic, but this little big issue is completely dangerous. Arbs need to be available when needed, not when they can [some circumstances apply, of course]. Apart, I'm not completely sure they know how diofficult being an Arb can be, and that they have not experience enough on dispute resolution to hold the job. Neutral RegentsPark (talk · contribs) RegentSpark is not a bad admin, but he is not completely suitable for ArbCom. Recent disputes increased this notion on me, although I'm being neutral this time. In my opinion, he has been very much involved in the disputes he participates, and that's not a good sign when running for ArbCom. Neutral Richwales (talk · contribs) I don't know much about Richwales. He is a solid candidate with some flaws. At this point, I don't consider he's got experience enough to be an Arb, but I don't have reasons to oppose his candidacy. Neutral Salvio giuliano (talk · contribs) Bad choices as an admin make me feel that he is not suited to be an arb yet. Although he has done many good things during his tenure here, there is some experience and behaviours I'd expect from any candidate running for ArbCom, and I think that Salvio is lacking the proper behavioural pattern needed. Maybe, after acquiring a more toughtful use of the buttons, he may become a good arbitrator. Notwithstanding, he has been a clerk at ArbCom and knows how things work, so I'm going neutral on him. Neutral Timotheus Canens (talk · contribs) Administrator, edit filter manager and AE patroller, Timotheus Canens may be worth a shot. Although, I don't see substantial dispute resolution experience to become an arb. I would suggest a year as a clerk and then go back at 2013 elections, but overall he's a good candidate. I am going neutral, although i could eventually support him. Neutral Worm That Turned (talk · contribs) Worm That Turned missed last year's ArbCom elections by the edge, and Jclemens was appointed in his name. One year later, he has only improved and polished himself. He is now ready for the job, and he will eventually be selected as such. Great admin, toughtful, lenient but taking actions when needed. He sometimes may come as harsh, but this is only in counted cases when disruptiveness has led the way. I can calmly support his nomination; he has proved to be worth the job.
