Article Evaluation
editThe homeless topic came to mind because when I first came here from Oregon I noticed coming through Seattle that there was a big amount of homeless people on the streets, under the bridges, etc. I wanted to explore more to see if they had homes for people who can't pay for them and so we can clear the streets of people and trash as well. I visited the traditional housing article on Wikipedia[2], and found three aspects of it worth commenting on if they left anything out in the article, there could've been more cites that they sourced to give us more information, and if there is irrelevant sections.
Reading the article it became very clear that they left some parts out. Within the article the quality of the few paragraph were missing several thing such as where people could locate this center, who was running the program, where they could contact them, and more information regarding transitional housing. They used very vague details that I could've just looked them up and gotten better answers. I came to this article to find answers on how this could help with getting people off the streets and after reading this article I don't feel confident with their answers.
Another topic that I wanted to comment on was putting more cited sources to provide us with more information on this topic. They should've put a cited source in when they were talking about what the transitional housing actually was. By putting in the cited source it would've gave us pictures or more information on transitional housing. By putting more links it provides so much more information with the little article they had. Also putting links in keeps the reader more interested in what they are reading. They also put links that weren't very needed with talking about transitional housing.
The last topic that I wanted to discuss was irrelevant sections. This article had links that weren't even about transitional housing, the links were about homeless people or emergency homeless centers. For the topic transitional housing there should've been more links regarding the article topic. Putting in irrelevant content not only confuses the reader but it can make the reader less interested in the message you are trying to get a crossed within your article. They used links that made me want to view the other pages more than the article that I picked. This article used Irrelevant sections such as Homeless, working homeless, and the foyer model. These had nothing to do with traditional housing and more with homeless people. By using relevant topics this article could have a lot more information on traditional housing.
By using the article traditional housing I found that the aspects that needed to be commented on was them leaving out things, more cited sources to provide more information about the article, and irrelevant sections. Providing more details within articles gives the reader more information on what they wanted to read about in the first place. Using irrelevant sections makes the reader not interested and makes them want to find a different article for the topic they want to read. Providing the right information, using relevant content, and putting more information within the article can make it stronger and more reliable.
