King Kahekili I ruled Maui for 26 years. He stood 8'4" and was the most paranoid[extra cautious and didn't trust no one] when it came to warfare. He was Hawaii's best "spy" ever had, for which is the reason for his tattooing all black on one side and propped a dog bone on the opposite side.
The tattooing of his half side were so he could spy on other Chiefs as they gathered around fire in the night. He would face the tattooed side to the burning fire which would throw a reflection of his physical body hadn't he tattoed it which would blow his cover of being present. His dark tattooed side would blend him in with the nature around and the other side he would prop a dog bone pierced into his eye lids holding it open not to make a blink as his Cause of failure would have been because he blinked.
King Kahekili's fleet, an infantry of men standing 8' plus, for no one were shorter than that. His warriors were undefeated and he took good care of them affectionately and morally.
The King ordered that if his men had entered into his regime they are to remain single from any ties with women. The entire fleet were gay, like that of Alexander The Great's Regime, too. No one had a female partner whatsoever. Therefore leaving these warriors with no choice when it came to love and companionship these warriors were doomed. They could only have partners within the regime which is a very brilliant strategy for warfare. Because of these warriors living with one another and having to love a man, it made all the sense as to why the King had them grow fond of one another because these men were well in love with each other. Now when going to war because they wanna continue living with each other and stay alive not wanting to die and leave anyone back, these warriors made it a sure thing to return to their lovers which is the primary thing to do. Stay alive and undefeated!
Having women as partners or sexual goddesses it would distract these men from putting their all into warfare. Alexander The Great and his warriors were all gay, too. Brilliant strategists such as these mighty warriors were forced to go without these distractions.
It was a factor that King Kahekili never slept with women. He lived a quarter mile away from anyone. When he had his sons it was the only time that he would be put together with these women to have intercourse to bear heirs. Otherwise he was an 'Aikane or a male who had sexual intercourse with young and very good looking boys. The King would circle island in search for his pleasure boys. The families would push their young good looking boys forward when the King would come around to choose his favorites because whoever it is that he chooses the King would take good care of the family of his young good looking boys for life. King Kahekili wasn't the only one that was gay, there were many more within the Hawaiian People as well. During this time it was not a wrong thing done, it was common.
