The Great Kathmandu is the name of a Nepalese restaurant chain that mainly sells Nepalese and Indian cuisine. It was founded in 1986 by Gopal Dangol after he resigned from the first Nepalese restaurant in the North West of England, The Kathmandu. The corporate name of The Great Kathmandu is Shontaine Ltd. The company has 5 Branches which trade under different names in Nepal and the UK. They currently employ 48 members of staff and it is The first Nepalese/Indian restaurant in Didsbury. [1]
Great Kathmandu's main operations office is in West Didsbury, Manchester, UK. Didsbury is considered to be an up and coming location to live and dine with many bars and restaurant. The Great Kathmandu was one of the first four establishments to open in West Didsbury and along with the Revamped Metropolitan pub it has been responsible for the increase in desirability of the area.
