About me

edit

I am a student at BYU studying English, with an emphasis in creative writing and a minor in editing. I enjoy learning about various literary aspects of literature, such as syntax, metaphors, and rhyme. I ask my fellow editors to be patient with me as I continue to grow as a writer and collaborator.

Conflict of interest statement and TBAN

edit

I am employed and paid hourly by the Harold B. Lee Library at Brigham Young University to edit Wikipedia and my supervisor is Rachel Helps (BYU). I am also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Many of my contributions have involved the Book of Mormon, but I am now moving to non-LDS topics because my team has been banned from editing any such topics. See the discussion here.

I have taken a class from Kimberly Johnson and am a member of Y-Fiction. As an English major and aspiring novelist I come to appreciate the literature pages I edit. I seek to be neutral in my writing, but as I've been cited before for not using a neutral wiki voice, it is very well possible that my appreciation of literature will inadvertently come out in my edits. If this ever threatens the integrity of the articles I edit, please send me a polite message on my talk page.

My goals

edit

I seek to raise poor Wikipedia articles to a higher standard. Because of this, I prefer working with stubs, start-class, and c-class articles, though I sometimes work on b-class articles. I am interested in expanding the articles with relevant, accurately-represented information and sources. I acknowledge that I have not always done, do not always, nor will always do a good job at this. I also seek to be a collaborative editor. Though I develop a relationship with what I write, I do not own the articles and am open to other editors joining me or giving polite feedback.
