Helen Ogochukwu Nzete is a graduate of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. She studied Fine Arts, specializing in sculpture. Her signature mixed media paintings are a blend of paintings influenced by her sculpture background. Helen’s pieces are synonymous with elements that are part and parcel of daily life like beads, coins, newspapers etc. This signature mix mashes elements of nature, emotions, environment and some form of rebellion which all comes together to symbolize the power of expression in a plethora of forms. Helen constantly explores new techniques to further aid her in using her art to confront issues surrounding us and our society. With over 10 years as a professional artist, Helen has had one solo exhibition, various group exhibitions both locally and internationally. Local and international newspaper/ magazine features. In 2019 Helen was nominated for the Access bank ARTX price. She won the social media award in 2018 and came out 1st in 2021, winning the visual arts competition by the Spanish embassy. MvzHelen currently lives and has her studio in Abuja where she also focuses on inspiring the young generations through arts.
