subpage of your user page (such as User:Eoag/Watchlist) and list them there, or simply stick them on your main user page like a lot of other editors do. - Hey, I noticed the edit you made to the lesson earlier - to be honest, I hadn't even thought of doing it that way, although having the link show bold all the time is definitely a good thing! You'll see I made a slight change to what you did, to make sure it appears in bold everywhere instead of just your adoption page, but well done!

- I've also made a slight change to your pages for reference - the links as they're showing now still go to the same places, but they're no longer external links. This is done by using an "interwiki" link: each MediaWiki site, and different languages of that site, is identified by a short code that can be added to the beginning of a link, like so: m:Help:Editing. The m: tells the link to go to Meta-Wiki. Like I said, this works for any MediaWiki site, including those not operated by the Wikimedia Foundation: just outside of WMF sites, the codes usually get a little longer. MemoryAlpha:Jean Luc Picard, for example, will go to the Star Trek Wikia site. This also works for languages, but you often have to add a colon in front of them to make them act as links - otherwise the software will think you're trying to indicate that the page you're editing can also be found in another language at that title. ja:メインページ will go to the Japanese Wikipedia's main page, but without the colon in front, you'd see a "In other languages" bar to the left here... probably not what you intended.

I created a new subpage for things that a new editor might want. I've decided that the project I really want to run is a "Welcome package for New Editors" that, once completed, will automatically put a sub page on the users page when they sign up that will include all the things that I wish I (and others) had availible at the beginning in a format that is usefully for reference, welcoming, and interesting (to get more editors), and then drop them there. The page User:Eoag/new will hopefully become a to do list for the project. Suggestions, help making the sub-page more presentable/user friendly, etc. all good. This will hopefully help with the backlog for adopters
that I imagine will become untenable at sometime in the future. Something like a tiered system of adoption for the addicts(you, me, etc :] ), a mentoring system with welcome package for regular users that would allow mentors to have several alcolites at once, and the welcome package for the once-in-a-whiles, determined by user request could make this system both more accesible and more affective at the same time.
This is definitely going to borrow heavily from your adoption program. Two things I really want are a list of every question asked by your (or ideally every) adoptee for the compilation of treed FAQ (an index for the welcome page) and an overview of your program. Later I would imagine that adopters would be the kind a people who would like to help so perhaps (if it is appropriate manners in wiki) the adopters list could be asked if they would like to join). I will try and get to the lesson tonight, I am not ignoring it, it is actually something I am looking forward to because it's the kinda thing I like doing. This brings up a point that is alluded to above. The adoption process that you have outlined is somewhat like getting a wiki-degree. An excellent idea and one I am interested in, but way to much for somebody who just wants to be able to edit the text of articles they are interested in. I must say I think I would really like to start looking into what it would take to get this project started. The adoption backlog is 53 and I am sure many who had questions didn't sign up (potential mentorees), so now would seem to be the time to at least think about starting something. Asking new adoptees for their suggestions and comments would also make them feel more involved (which they would be) and hopefully keep them progressing. People who feel they are helping build something tend to help build that much harder.Eoag (talk) 23:39, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

And finally for today: At my current rate I will have joined the anti-vandalism project before I get to the lesson. The massive addition to my watchlist from today mostly comes from the most vandalized pages page.
