My name is Kaylee Freid and I am a senior at Washington University in St. Louis studying cognitive neuroscience and biology on the pre-med track. I currently work as a Medical scribe trainer at Mercy St. Louis, as an intern at the Washington University Undergraduate Admissions Office, and volunteer at Ranken Jordan Pediatric Bridge Hospital. I also am a member of Alpha Chi Sigma Professional Chemistry Fraternity and Psi Chi International Honor Society in Psychology. I have prior research experience working as an undergraduate research assistance in the Copits lab in the Department of Anesthesiology, looking at how the rostral ventromedial medulla (RVM) is involved in descending pain control pathways, and I conducted an independent study as part of my cognitive neuroscience major to explore how cognitive factors are involved in pain experiences. I also conducted research as part of the national experiment organized by the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and have an authored contribution to the International Actinobacteriophage database.
I have prior experience contributing to Wikipedia by working on the "Cryptochromes" page, specifically editing information about the CRY1 gene in the context of circadian rhythms. Currently, I plan to contribute to Wikipedia by working on articles about beetles in the context of behavioral ecology.
