History
Back in 1830 the Indian removal act was declared on May, 28 1830. When this was happening Indians were kicked out of their homes and forced to leave but they couldn’t bring any of their belongings. In the middle of the night the u.s army knocked on their doors and said “you need to leave or you will be forced too.” One reason why this happened is because as you know or not Andrew Jackson is on the twenty dollar bill, but some think that he doesn't deserve to be on it. People think this because back in 1830 when the Indian Removal Act was happening he signed it. After that settlers came to the Indians land known as the native Americans came and looked for gold which was discovered in the Native Americans in 1820 and the settlers found in 1830. After the settlers found the gold more invaders came to find gold and there wasn’t enough room for the Indians and the settlers so they kicked the Indians out. When they were kicked out they had no homes or any food. The u.s army was the ones who took them out of their homes. After that they walked 5,043 miles and barely got to stop. 4,000 people died of diseases because they didn’t have any medicine to help them. Once the walk was over and arrived in Oklahoma this was known as the Trail Of Tears. After they got there a part of which is known today is Oklahoma was called Indian territory.
