I am a professional research scientist. I have a Bachelor's degree in theoretical physics and a PhD in physical oceanography [1]. My research revolves around the role of the oceans in controlling or moderating global climate change. I have written a large number of research papers on a variety of topics concerning the dynamics of climate change, the oceanic control mechanisms, general ocean dynamics and the impact of climate change on biological systems [2].
Howard Freeland has an Erdős Number of 3, this is computed as follows:-
1) George Szekeres has an Erdős number of 1 because of his collaboration with Paul Erdős producing this paper [3].
2) Lawrence Mysak has an Erdős Number of 2 because of his collaboration with George Szekeres [4] Canadian Journal of Physics 44, 617–627.
3) Howard Freeland therefore has an Erdős number of 3 because of his collaboration with Lawrence Mysak [5].
I was co-Chairman of the International Argo Steering Team during most of its first decade and now have an honorary position as Argo Director [6]. Argo is a multinational effort to monitor the changing state of the oceans AND make the data freely available in real-time to anyone who wants to see it and use it. The data can be accessed free of charge and with no controls on use, and the data can be viewed and manipulated using a free software package called "Ocean DataView". A user who wants to explore Argo data but lacks programming skills might like to download the Argo Global Marine Atlas [7] which is an easy-to-use utility that allows the creation of products based on Argo data with no programming required.
I also created the Wikipedia page for Lawrence Mysak.
I enjoy music and sing bass in a chamber choir called Via Choralis [8].
